Business Valuation

The valuation of a business is the process of determining its current worth, using objective measures, and evaluating all aspects of the business.  

A business valuation might include an analysis of the company's management, its capital structure and its future earnings prospects, as well as the market value of its assets.  

There are four important things to remember when valuing a business:

• There is no magic formula.  Business valuation is more of an art then a  science.
• It is difficult to set a price on the goodwill of a company
• There is no way to predict the future
• Value is not price

Business valuations may be performed for:

• Equitable distribution in a matrimonial matter
• Stockholder disputes
• Purchasing a company
• Estate & Gift tax purposes
